Above: Marilyn and I finally made it down to the beach for what has become our biannual visit (though not always to the same beach). This time it was Pismo Beach near San Luis Obispo before her brother’s college graduation.
It’s been a quick three weeks, and now we’re headed back to Beijing. After tasting the delights that our native California has to offer, namely clean air, sunshine and avocados, it’s always a bit hard to head back. I’d be lying if I said we didn’t have at least some trepidation this time about returning to China since we’ll be having the baby there.
Don’t get me wrong, we have a wonderful life in Beijing, and we’re happy to be returning, but it’s still hard to leave so many people we love knowing that we won’t see them for a while.
So, here’s a quick salute to America for putting up with us for three fabulous weeks. If all goes according to plan, we’ll be bringing baby back to meet his relatives next year, so maybe we can turn these beach visits into an annual affair.
In the meantime, onward and upward in Beijing!
